We can't say we didn't see this coming, with Tyler Perry having such a strong grip on the network. He has many shows across the network, including BET+, and continues to make his mark in the industry as a powerful TV executive and actor in the entertainment industry. Tyler Perry is looking to possibly buy a majority stake in BET. Perry is currently in talks with Paramount to buy BET since reports surfaced that Paramount Global was on the market to sell the network. Tyler Perry currently owns a minority stake in the BET Network and VH1. It is also being reported TV producer Byron Allen was also interested in buying BET from Paramount. Interesting.
WHAT SHOWS DOES TYLER PERRY CURRENTLY HAVE ON BET & BET+?
Since 2017, Perry has had a working deal to create content for Paramount’s networks and has tons of TV scripted content. He has produced several shows for BET, BET+, and Nickelodeon including “The Oval,” “Young Dylan,” “Sistas,” “Ruthless,” “Bruh” and “Zatima.” He has separate deals to create films for Amazon and Netflix. All of his TV shows are shot at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. Other BET+ shows he has is the sitcom “The Ms. Pat Show” starring loud comedian Ms. Pat and the drama “Kingdom Business” featuring Yolanda Adams. The company plans to merge with its Showtime streaming service later this year. Robert Johnson founded the original BET cable network in 1980 and sold the company to Viacom in 2001. Viacom has recently been renamed Paramount Global. It is said the BET Media Group generated $1.5 billion in revenue for Paramount last year.
