Singer Janet Jackson recently broke her silence following the death of her father Joe Jackson.
"A little less than two weeks ago my father passed away" Janet told the audience at the 2018 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. "He was comforted by my family, me ... It's always difficult when you lose a loved one. To be quite honest it was hard for me. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know how to move forward. If I should cancel this festival, cancel the entire tour. And I talked to my brother and we started to talk about my fathers’ strength. He was very strong. If it wasn't without his drive, his strength we wouldn't have this success."
Joe Jackson died at the age of 89 following complications from his battle with cancer.
The "Control" singer is currently on the road with her "State of the World" tour.
