Coming into the opening round of the 2022 NFL Draft there were so many questions that lingered. In a year where a record eight franchises held multiple picks in the first round, the growing sentiment was some of this 'em teams would drop the ball. Don't tell that to the two teams that share MetLife Stadium.
The Jets and Giants were both big winners on opening night. First the Jets, went and got their best cornerback prospects since the great Darrelle Regis, by grabbing Cincinnati stud Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner. The rangy, ballhawking playmaker that didn't allow a touchdown in hs entire collegiate career. The Jets weren't done as they then added Ohio State wide receiver Garr Wilson a do-it-all playmaker. The steal of the draft may have been them landing Florida State pass rusher later in the round, JJ has top-10 ability. In all great night for the JETS.
As for the Giants they added two top-five talents in edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux out of Oregon, who's arguably the best pure pass rusher in the draft. The G-Men then added Alabama stalwart tackle Evan Neal, a player many had going No.1 overall.
