NIGERIANS NATION BANNING EXTERNAL ENTERTAINERS

Nigeria is looking to exclude any outside visitors to appear in its local entertainment industry to promote its homegrown talent as far as TV commercials are concerned. They are said to be banning foreign models from appearing in televised adverts and even voiceover work. The community felt foreign talent had quite literally dominated the advertising market, but the country is looking to change that. Steve Babaeko, who is Nigeria’s President of the Association of Advertising Agencies, expressed “Britons accounted for about half of models and voiceover artists in Nigerian commercials a couple of decades ago.” British accents have also been ahead of the curve in the visuals seen in this particular market. It is a bit weird because great actors like Idris Elba, Damson Idris, and more are black actors from overseas who are booked here on a regular basis
