CO’S SMUGGLE CONTRABAND RIKERS FOR BLOODS

Two New York City correction officers pled guilty to smuggling contraband into Rikers Island. The correction officers that plead guilty of these crimes are Krystle Burrell and Katrina Patterson. They accepted a total of $44,000 to bring cellphones and narcotics into the facility. The two correction officers took bribes from blood gang members, while one inmate put together the actual business deal. Krystle Burrell, pleaded guilty to bribery, admitting that she accepted nearly $10,000 in bribe payments from her co-defendant Terrae Hinds to get unauthorized cell phones into Rikers. She also conducted the sale of narcotics and other contraband items at the facility.
